Bio

I am a researcher specializing in the field of classical reception in early modern art and the recipient of the Rotenstreich and Negev-Tsin Scholarships, for excellent PhD students in the humanities in Israel. My primary focus is on uncovering overlooked objects from this era, including the Cinquecento carved cassoni highlighted on this website. Additionally, I have a particular interest in exploring the relationship between art and science, specifically within the domains of astronomy and astrology. I examine the artistic value and symbolic iconography present in celestial maps and globes. Furthermore, my research extends to the realm of comics, where I analyze the superhero genre of the 1930s-1940s and its engagement with classical influences. Through these interdisciplinary investigations, my aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the connections between various fields of study and to provide fresh insights into the historical context of art.
